Rolly Mulligan is a Certified Arborist, licensed pesticide applicator, fully insured.

Rolly was born and raised on a farm West of Champaign, IL., where he developed an early love of nature and art. He attended Holy Cross Grade School, where he was a member of the YMCA Judo Club, and Mahomet Seymour HIgh School where he was the Student Council President. In 1975, he graduated from SIUC with a BS in Plant and Soil Science with a specialization in Landscape Horticulture.

Photo to left above was taken in 1967 - US Olympic Chairman awards outstanding Judoka Award for Alton Olympic Development Tournament. During the summer of 1976, Rolly participated in a 5200 mile bicycle trip of the US and Canadian Rockies with Mike Moon.

Upon graduation Rolly worked for legendary nurseryman, Willet Wandell, at Urbana Nursery. He then worked for landscaping companies in Oak Park outside of Chicago. Rolly relocated to Southern Illinois to begin TREESOURCE in 1978 and in 1986, purchased a 70 acre nursery which is surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. The nursery is the source of many of the trees he uses. In addition to the TREESOURCE inventory in Carbondale, Rolly works with other growers and nurseries such as Wandells in Urbana, IL., to obtain material not usually available.

Rolly has been privileged to meet and work for many interesting clients. One of his earliest was Senator Paul Simon and his wife Jeane. Others have been the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, the City of Carbondale, the City of Metropolis (home of Superman), Bruce Weber and his wife, Megan, the WSIL Channel 3 TV Station, and Blue Sky Vineyard.

Predigging preparation is one of our specialties - We commonly apply disease and insect protection, root stimulation and growth hormones, and pruning 3-6 months BEFORE moving to the job site. This sets TREESOURCE apart from others.
